About Judge Matthew S. Reed
Born: Matthew was born in Chicago, Illinois. Shortly after he was born, his family moved to northern California. He and his two siblings were raised in Ukiah, California. Matthew returned to Illinois during high school and graduated from Prophetstown High School in 1990. After graduation, Matthew pursued a career as an artist. He worked professionally in that field until 1999.
Education: Matthew earned his Bachelor of Arts, Political Science Degree from Arizona State University in July 2002. He earned his Juris Doctorate Degree from University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law in May 2005.
Legal: Admitted to practice in the State of Arizona in 2006. His legal career includes: Deputy County Attorney, Office of the Pinal County Attorney February 2015 to October 2020; Criminal Defense Attorney, Law Office of David Michel Canter April 2014 – February 2015; ADOT as Associate Presiding Administrative Law Judge December 2011 – April 2014; Maricopa County Attorney’s Office as a Deputy County Attorney June 2006 – October 2009 and Assistant Bureau Chief, Trial Bureau November 2009 – December 2011.
Present Member: Serves as a member of Pinal County Attorney’s Office Ethics Committee.
