About Judge Karen F. Palmer
Born: Karen Palmer was born on the island of Taiwan and raised in Mesa, Arizona.
Education: She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physiology with a minor in Chemistry in 2001, and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional Sciences in 2002, both from the University of Arizona. She attended the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University where she earned her Juris Doctorate in December of 2004. She was a Senior Editor for the law school’s Jurimetrics Journal and published a journal article during law school. She was also named a Center Scholar for the law school’s Center for Law, Science and Technology.
Legal: After graduation, Karen moved to Pinal County in 2005 and began working at the Pinal County Attorney’s Office as a legal assistant. After being admitted to the Arizona State Bar, she continued her legal career at the Pinal County Attorney’s Office as a Deputy County Attorney. She worked in several different units to include the Child Support Division, Juvenile and Justice Court Bureau, Community Protection/Trial Bureau, and Major Crimes Bureau. In September 2018, she accepted an appointment by Presiding Judge Stephen McCarville to serve as Superior Court Commissioner.
Family: Karen is married to her husband Nathan, and they have two children.
